Inclusion Program

Be Me: After School Program at the Y
Camp Twelve Trails Summer Camp

Here at the Y, our inclusive approach ensures that all children, regardless of ability or background, are given the exposure to meaningful opportunities to participate in all programs. Our programs offer a variety of enrichment activities to all participants and provides support to those with special needs through additional resources, social skills groups, behavior plans, and individualized goals in order to cultivate programs where all students are able to grow and thrive in the same environment. The Y is committed to creating inclusive environments and programming in both our after school program and summer camp, leading us to further develop the infrastructure within each.

Be Me: After School Program at the Y offers a variety of activities. Intake meetings are conducted with participants who have an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) in order to determine what type of support is needed to ensure success in our after school program. Individualized goals are created during the intake meeting, with a strong focus on friendship building, self-advocacy, and self-regulation. Trained Support Counselors are placed with participants, implementing individualized support plans.

In addition to all the great opportunities and activities that Be Me has to offer, children have the option to participate in our Peer Mentoring Program to further enhance their experiences and after school time at the Y. The Peer Mentoring Program is made up of 4th-5th grade after school participants who are matched with our K-2nd graders in order to encourage peer learning and to develop meaningful relationships that aid in building a stronger community across the program.

Our Camp Twelve Trails inclusion program reflects our desire to be inclusive whenever possible and to cater to the needs of each individual child. By adapting the programs offered throughout Camp Twelve Trails, we focus on providing everyone a caring, safe, and engaging environment. To ensure that each child’s needs are properly met, we conduct an intake interview with each camper. For more information about our integrated programs at Camp Twelve Trails, visit
