THE Y NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Do a good deed - and become a Y volunteer. Many rewarding opportunities are available to assist our staff including mentoring, office work, meal delivery, helping out in kids programs, assisting in the fitness center, senior center, special events and telephone reassurance.

FIELD PLACEMENT

The Y is a field placement for Masters of Social Work students from Columbia, Fordham, Hunter and Yeshiva University. The Y is also a placement for Masters in Nursing students from Columbia, and Masters in Education students from Columbia, NYU and Bank Street. The Y is also a placement for college work-study students from SUNY/CUNY schools and for high school students performing community service. Based on their educational background and goals, students acquire the skills they need to work better with clients and succeed in their educational endeavors.

PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEO

We take photographs and video throughout the year of various Y activities which may be used for publicity and/or for promotional pieces including our web site. The Y reserves the right to use all photographs and video unless we receive specific instructions to the contrary.

THE Y’S POLICIES & FEES

The YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood enforces a policy of terminating services for on-going programs - specifically Not Quite Nursery, Preschool Prep, Nursery School, the Kids’ Connection, the After School program, and Day Camp - to members who owe the Y money. Any exceptions to this policy will require that a payment plan be worked out with administrative staff stipulating that services will be ended if there’s non-compliance with the payment plan.
