Jon was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. After graduating from Penn State University in 2009, he spent a year working as a Mental Health Specialist in a residential treatment facility in Buffalo followed by a 10-month stint in Montpellier, France, where he taught English to highschoolers. Jon moved to New York City in 2011. He taught summer camp sports at New Country Day Camp of the 14th Street Y, before spending a year at Manhattan Youth, a community center in TriBeCa, as an assistant after school director. He's been at the Y of Wash Heights since May of 2013, and during his tenure has overseen Nursery Elective Classes, Birthday Parties, Camp Twelve Trails' (nee Camp Yomawha) Counselor-in-Training program, and the construction of our indoor climbing wall. Jon now manages Be Me: After School Program as well as the Hudson Cliffs Baseball League. Jon received his master's degree in Urban Policy and Leadership at Hunter College in December of 2015. Outside of the Y, he likes checking out new restaurants in the city, rooting on the Buffalo Bills, studying French, and going for an evening jog through Inwood Hill Park. He loves being a part of the community where he works, and wants to be a part of building an even better uptown community for our youth!
