Karina Munoz is a Hunter College alumna with a degree in Psychology and African/Latino Studies. She started out as a Summer Youth Employement Program participant at Alianza in 2007. In 2008 Karina became an SYEP participant at Inwood Community Services, Inc. (ICS) and, after being offered a Coordinator position, she worked at ICS for 5 years. The Y hired Karina to direct and supervise our SYEP program because of her extensive knowledge of the program and experience.
She really enjoys working with teens and is on a mission to inspire the youth to pursue their dreams despite their upbringings. Being the SYEP Director has brought her closer to her career goals which consist of mentoring and guiding teens. Under her leadership, we have received three allocation increases and now successfully place over 600 youth in jobs throughout the city each summer.
