Michael Fermaglich, Chief Operating Officer, has been an executive staff of the Y since 2001. In his current position as COO, Michael oversees operations including membership system development, capital renovations and building upgrades, and housing management. Programmatically, Michael oversees summer day camp, literacy and teen programs for at-risk youth, kids’ enrichment programs and the health and fitness center.
In 2004, Michael administered the refinancing of the Wien House, the 14 story, 100 unit, facility for low income seniors and physically disabled adults that the Y manages. This refinancing was the first in the country through a tax exempt bond issuance coupled with low income housing credits. This past year, under Michael's leadership, the Wien House became the first Housing and Urban Development (HUD) building to become completely smoke free.
Last year, the Y completed $900K of capital renovations including a new building entrance and an air conditioning system for the gymnasium. Starting this year, the Y will be undergoing a $1.8 million renovation through city capital funding to include a comprehensive reconfiguration of program spaces on the second and third floors, along with a gut renovation of our commercial kitchen and the creation of a cafeteria. Michael oversees the scope development, budget, physical coordination and reporting related to these renovations.
Michael has an MSW from Yeshiva University and a B.S. in Accounting from Babson College.
