Service to others started at a young age for Jasmin. Her grandparents migrated from Puerto Rico in 1959 for better opportunities. Jasmin's grandmother provided free childcare to the families within their NYC Housing Authority development. Jasmin's mother offered free financial literacy workshops to the community in the evenings as well as ESL classes. This is where Jasmin's passion for serving other began.
Jasmin comes to the Y with close to 25 years of youth development experience. Her work consists of program development for youth in grades K – 12th. Her focus is to develop and achieve academic milestones, health/physical education progress, and social activities through engaging, creative, and purposeful activities. Being trained at Bank Street College, she has the skills to develop and implement age-appropriate, culturally competent, subject-relevant, activity-based programming. In her spare time, Jasmin operates a youth softball league and since 2010, has devoted her time to coaching the Lady Tigers. Jasmin has a bachelor's degree in political science from SUNY Stony Brook and in 2018 will begin her master's degree in social work from NYU. She lives in the Lower East Side and has a Pomeranian named Rocky.
