These mediation, teen and literacy programs are funded by the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development; they're all free of charge and open to any NYC resident.

Teen Programs

Ages 12 to 18

  1. Teen Leadership & Lounge
    Mondays, 5:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
    September 8, 2008 to June 22, 2009
    Please note: Dinner is provided

This program offers our youth an opportunity to improve their leadership skills, perform community service projects, meet new friends and exercise their body and spirits. Learn new moves in our dance class or try our new Dance Dance Revolution and Fitness programs using the Nintendo Wii system. While not participating in a specific activity, teens have a chance to play in our game room and lounge which has a pool table, arcades and a karaoke machine.

  2. Teen Anti-Tobacco
    Mondays and Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    December 4, 2008 to July 31, 2009

Want to make a change in your community? This program will train and help you to become a leader and teach other teens about the negative impact of tobacco advertising in your neighborhood. Learn how to make power point presentations and speak in front of your elective officials through this anti-tobacco initiative and learning experience.

  3. Teen Athletics & Lounge
    Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    September 9, 2008 to June 24, 2009

This program gives young people the opportunity for health and wellness, skill development, emotional growth and a safe place to spend the evening. Teens use our full court gymnasium with both drills and free play in basketball and volleyball. While not participating in athletic activities, teens have a chance to use our game room and lounge.

  4. Teen Computers & Technology
    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    September 9, 2008 to June 24, 2009

We continue our collaboration with One-Economy, a non-for profit agency that provides free technology education for youth including computer repair. This allows students to help the community’s low-income families and senior citizens with computer issues, while getting valuable training.
