Let the fun continue! Y nursery school students can extend their day in a super-fun way: Our Spring Electives! All classes are taught by education professionals who are highly experienced in their fields. Not enrolled in the Y Nursery? No problem! Spring Electives are open to the whole community. Electives are open to children aged 3-5 years old.

Spring class descriptions:

Piano For Tots (Mondays: 12-12:30 or 12:30-1) Come enjoy elementary piano lessons for your children!  This class will focus on helping your toddler/preschooler become acquainted with the elements of music, learning how to read notes and how to perform very easy songs. This mid-day class is ideal for kids who do not nap.  

Scamper Theatre Kids - Born Imagination  (Mondays: 3:00-3:45) This introduction to drama class is all about creating a really fun and silly exercise where we practice using our natural imaginations. We will start each day with a movement and dance warm-up, and, then, each class will have a drama-related theme followed by a book that we will take off the page and bring to life as an ensemble.

(SOLD OUT) 92Y Gymnastics (Mondays: 3:00-3:45) Children are introduced to a gymnastics experiences by learning exciting skills on floor exercise, single-rail bar, low beam and a vaulting apparatus with the help of specialty gymnastics props and games. Children participate in gymnastics warm-ups, strength conditioning, muscle coordination, balance, flexibility and skill-building activities. Every child will receive an award at the end of the semester!

(SOLD OUT) Junior Strikers / Soccer with Benefit Sports  (Tuesdays: 3:00-3:45) Our 45 min sessions will focus on the development of your young athlete as a player focusing on comfort w the ball and spacial awareness, but also as a young person learning interpersonal skills such as leadership, team spirit, courage, sportsmanship, and friendship. Our double-focused approach ensures that positive youth-development stays at the forefront of all games and drills. Get a KICK out of learning soccer with your friends!

Let Off Some STEAM!  (Tuesdays: 3:00-3:45) In these hands-on, student-centered sessions, your young Engineer of a child will engage in the field of robotics, understanding the practical use of robots, and become introduced to Engineering in ways to help her/him create innovative structures. The visual arts will be creatively infused into many of our Engineering lessons. Your Young Scientist will engage in a series of hands-on, engaging science experiments that are sure to enliven the spirit around states of matter, chemical reactions, and more in each of these sessions!

Bubbie’s Kitchen (Wednesdays: 3:00-3:45) You're never too young to learn how to prepare healthy and yummy dishes! Come join Bubbie on Tuesdays as we visit a different country each month. Your chef-in-training will learn basic kitchen skills, as well as how to prepare healthy and fun recipes, and so much more.

(SOLD OUT) Ballet  (Wednesdays: 3:00-3:45)  Ballet fundamentals will be introduced to the early learner while focusing on developing strength and technique. Each class will combine ballet basics, rhythm exercises and imaginative play. Girl ballet students should wear a leotard, tights and ballet shoes. Boy ballet students should wear ballet shoes, a t-shirt and comfortable pants.

(SOLD OUT) CLAYground (Thursday: 3:00-3:45)  Let's use our imagination to build with different types of clay! In this class we will use recycled materials such as cardboard, plastic, and sticks; mix them with clay; and transform them into 3D sculptures

Story Art Stuio  (Fridays: 3:00-3:45)  Let's bring books to live, creating props and characters using art mediums including paint, crayons, and markers. In this class we will not only engage with known story books but will create and re-enact our own stories.
