You're Invited to the Best Post-Purim Event in Town
All are welcome to our annual Purim Carnival, our premier event of the year! Purim is a holiday of generosity where we celebrate, feast, and rejoice. Based on the story of the Jews in ancient Persia, Purim exemplifies the meaning of coming together and embracing those around us (learn more about the history of the holiday here). Whether you are family of Purim veterans or Purim newbies, we hope to see you there -- so dress up in your favorite costumes, head on over to the Y, and be ready for a fun-filled day!

No Place Like Home: The What, When, and Where of this Year's Purim Carnival
Follow the yellow brick road at this year's Wizard of Oz-inspired No Place Like Home Purim Carnival for an array of engaging family activities! Purim is both a time when we celebrate and when we give to those in need. Through our variety of crafts and games, join the Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow on their quest for courage, kindness, and curiosity. And as Dorothy said, "There's no place like home," so we'll be collecting items that are needed by Siena House, a shelter in the Bronx that provides transitional housing for women with young children who are awaiting a more permanent home.

Siena House Collection
In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy desperately wishes to return home. Having a safe and supportive home is a desire we can all relate to, however not all are fortunate enough to have realized. One of the mitzvot (good deeds) associated with Purim is matanot l'evyonim which means giving to those in need. Inspired by our No Place Like Home theme, this year we are collecting much-needed items for the residents of Siena House. This Bronx shelter provides transitional housing for 27 women of all backgrounds who are pregnant or have a child under the age of three. By providing a safe, clean environment, social services, and workshops, Siena House supports women who wish to move from a situation of homelessness and poverty to independence and self-worth. This Purim, help support these 27 women as they work towards Dorothy's dream of finding home.
